The University of Tartu’s alumni get-together “Back to the university” on 18 May will feature 2 Quick Start, Justament, the Popsid brass band and DJ Kalev K as performers. The party hosts will be Andres Dvinjaninov and Saara Pius.
The creative director of the party is Tanel Jonas. “We invite all alumni to come back to their alma mater to fly high together. The evening will be a warm and vibrant reunion of old friends and meeting with younger alumni who will shape Estonia’s future,” said Jonas.
The get-together will span the whole day. In its first part, alumni can meet their lecturers and former fellow students, visit familiar study buildings and lecture halls, and participate in the university debates at the Tartu [pre]opinion Festival. At 18:00, the rector will greet alumni in front of the university’s main building, and the sing-along begins. After that, everyone will go together in a merry procession to the university’s sports hall for the party.
Early-bird tickets at the special rate of 25 euros are available at Piletitasku until the end of January. By purchasing a ticket, you support the alumni get-together and get access to the party in the evening.
The university invites all alumni to also donate to the University of Tartu Seventh Pillar Fund, which aims to support students in their studies and research. When the fund was established, it was named by the then patron of the University of Tartu Foundation Lennart Meri, who referred to the seventh pillar as the pillar of wisdom.
